Dengri or “dungaree” is the traditional work wear uniform in Tunisia worn by merchants and sailors. It originally came from China and is also known as “Bleu de Chine” as it was worn by Chinese Maoist workers. A classic dengri is straight-cut jacket in deep dyed indigo. It has patch pockets and Chinese buttons. This piece is a reinterpretation of the staple: it is made out of velvet and features a mandarin collar.
