ANISSA AIDA...

Fall Winter 20/2021

GEOMETRY

ANISSA AIDA… is a designer ready to wear line inspired by the craftsmanship of Anissa’s home country, Tunisia and her fascination for Japan. The collections meld Tunisian and Japanese cultures, giving a modern spin to ancestral garments. Relaxed tailoring find meeting places between East and West, past and future, and tradition and modernity.

ANISSA AIDA… offers a minimalist dressing of versatile pieces for the culturally sensitives, in every aspect of their lives: from formal to casual cool. Through thoughtful choices concerning cuts and silhouettes and fabric selection, the mission statement is to achieve modern sophistication together with timeless classics.

This collection, the label introduced for the first time some menswear looks, achieving the same vision. Tunisia is rich in heritage, knowledge and traditional craftsmanship. Over three thousand years of history, this culture remained open to all the civilizational inflow. ANISSA AIDA… also explores the similarities between the traditional garments worn in North Africa and in the Middle East and Far East: China, Japan, and Korea.

Many guiding threads seem to link kimonos, « jebbas », « djellabas », caftans, and so forth: cuts, geometry, structure, textures and colors have a common language to reflect tradition and modernity.

For the FW 2021/21, GEOMETRY collection ANISSA AIDA… is in line with the previous collections, through the use of stripes and a color palette composed of shades of blue and white inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and architecture. It is also bringing some newness with the emphasis on the geomety, particularly with the fabric manipulations creating some graphic cuts and grid shapes. This work is a continuation of my earlier collections TRANSPARENCIES and MOSAICS. The fabric manipulation creating small empty squares is referencing mosaics, traditionnal tiles and Zellige.

Conscious about the impact the Fashion industry has on the environment, ANISSA AIDA… values sustainable sourcing, the ethical employment practices during production and collaborations with artisans. The label’s mission is to preserve cultural heritage by re-interpreting local ancestral techniques such as the handweaving of silk, linen and cotton.
